Tikiphile and jet-setter Vern (a.k.a. ikitnrev) recently commissioned a portrait from artist Vicki Berndt, and the excellent result is at the left. Berndt creates portraits in many styles, but her specialty is big-eyed portraits in the style of ’60s artist Margaret Keane. For Vern’s portrait, he wanted to include details from his life, and so he’s pictured aloha-bedecked, on the road, Tiki Road Trip and map in one hand, tiki mug in the other. His pitstop for the night is not a tiki motel, but rather one of Vern’s favorite places, Wigwam Village in Cave City, Kentucky.

I’d be very tempted to commission one of those for myself, but I don’t have an extra $500 laying around at the moment!
