I MEANT WHAT I SAID ABOUT THOSE TROGLODYTES AT SAM'S SEAFOOD- I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL FOR THE WAY THEY WASTED MY TIME WITH THEIR HORSESHIT MENU AND FAUX PACIFIC ISLAND AMBIENCE. DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU GET FOOD POISONING FROM THEM, OR IF SOMEONE TRIES TO PROPOSOTION YOU WHILE YOU'RE IN THE RESTROOM. BUNCH OF SICKO'S WHO NEED TO BE CLOSELY MONITORED BY THE FBI.
GOOD HEAVENS- AND THEY EVEN TRY TO CHARGE MORE THAN 8 BUCKS FOR A GLASS OF COUGH SYRUP AND CHEAP RUM. MAKES ME WONDER IF THE DAMN PLACE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEVELED BY A CATERPILLAR AND TURNED INTO A PARKING LOT. A SINK HOLE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER SUITED FOR THAT AREA, AT LEAST I'D HAVE A PLACE TO COMMIT SUICIDE BY DYSENTERY.

I have been to the "new" Sam's in Sunset Beach, and I Have to state that I am not pleased with the "upbeat" changes. Rather than focus on what locals, and regulars have enjoyed for many years, they have made changes that are quite unpleasant and rather offensive to what the theme originally was. I suspect that the joy of the re-opening will be short lived, mainly because of several key elements that have been added to this restaurant, which are:
-The darkness- it's now very low-lit...uncomfortably low lit! It's better to eat outside before sunset if you's like to be able to read your menu!
-THE MENUS! Don't get me started, but the MENU is almost illegible scrawl of adolescent JARGON, abbreviations, and hard to read fonts...tell me how to make it all out in a poorly lit setting.
-the lobster is OFF the menu, as well, are most of the meals that used to be on the menu selection.
-bread is no longer served, or OFFERED before you order
-and the servers/waiters/waitresses lack the warmth that used to help light up the atmosphere
-all in all, the new atmosphere is unpleasant and appears to be making a passive aggressive attempt at mimicking a "gormet" restaurant, rather than Pacific Island themed restaurant...there are so many thing going on at once to even try and describe ONE thing that makes it all WRONG...for starters, they should get rid of the projection screen that delivers scenes of people surfing- while trying to pass the restaurant off as a "5 star" dining hall- give me a break already. Some of the changes were nice, however I was very turned off by them. That and their Mojitos were AWFUL! I got through less than half the drink and wanted to vomit, that's how strong their ill-suited bartender prepared the drinks!
Sadly, I was served better, and treated better by a "Chain" restaurant (HOOTERS) the very next day. And PAID LESS to eat at HOOTERS!
It would be wise for the Management to consider feedback from patrons like myself, because my fiance and I used to be regulars at Sam's, without any complaint. We don't plan on returning because the consideration for the "locals" and regulars, and as well consideration for future clientele has been lost.
Too many complicated, selfish agendas as well as self absorbed personalities seem to be in charge now to listen to what the "old schoolers" and normal people want. If anything, the only thing they should have changed was yes, a little refreshing of the ambience, the restrooms, and their shrimp-cocktail portions...otherwise whoever was in charge of re-establishing the Place wasted a lot of money they could have spent on Lobsters and decent bartenders...and maybe some refreshed menus.
Crabcakes were okay, but would have been better if the Mojito I ordered didn't suck.

Sounds like it's open sporadically -- best to try calling in advance (also sounds like Saturday early evenings are the best bet).
